Mr Rubber UK 2018

Here at MRM Towers we’re super excited to be hosting our friends at Mr Rubber UK with the newly revived title contest. If you think you have what it takes to don the sash and represent the UK’s rubber scene around the country and further afield go and fill in the application form on their website.

The Mr Rubber UK contest will be held on the Friday night of MRM9, starting at 7.30pm, immediately before Darkcell. Come and see the guys you’ve followed on FB for ages compete it out to be the UK’s rubber representative.

YOUR RUBBER CLUB NEEDS YOU!!

Yes, guys, it’s that time of the year when we come grovelling to you to see who’s up for the challenge of helping Manchester Rubber Weekend #MRM9come to life! When we say the weekend can’t happen without you guys we really mean it – the only way we can put on so many events is with the huge help and support of all of you. For several years now we’ve had an awesome Crew that helps us facilitate the weekend and we couldn’t have done it without them. If you’ve been to an MRM before and had a great time, it’s all because of the Crew who have volunteered their time to make the weekend a success.

We need people who can welcome others, smile, have fun, and are happy to muck in with moving things, helping at the doors, shaking charity buckets, sticking wristbands on people, and generally being awesome. Last year was the most organised yet, with an easy timetable and with such a strong group we can make sure you get the vast majority of the weekend to enjoy yourself. Many hands make light work.

Every year we’ve had a Crew meeting immediately before the Weekend kicks off, with Sly giving one of his infamous speeches, guaranteed to bring tears to your eyes. Last year we were fortunate enough to have videoed it for a couple of Crew who couldn’t make the meeting and I’ve attached it below. Have a watch, and see exactly what being Crew means to making this a fantastic weekend for everyone in our community.

If you’re interested in giving up a little bit of time to help us out you NEED to fill in this form as we’ll be using this to know how to schedule the weekend and find out when you’re around.

Thanks so much in advance, you’re heroes!

Second ‘Hands’ Sale

The MRM9 Second ‘Hands’ Sale

Are you coming to MRM9? Do you have rubber clothing you no longer wear? Is it now too big/small? Or do you just prefer to wear other items? You could bring these items with you to sell at the MRM9 market on Saturday 21 April. Make yourself some money and raise some for the Si Hands Memorial Fund at the same time.

More details about how to list and drop off your items will be coming soon.

Final tickets now sold.

Hey guys. The 3rd release of weekend tickets for #MRM9 have now gone. However, we know that people’s plans can change and some find themselves not being able to attend MRM weekend after all.

We would always discourage reselling between members as the tickets are named and, for members security, we don’t give them to anyone other than the purchaser (or the person they named on the order as having bought them for). The last thing we’d want is anyone turning up on the weekend expecting to be able to pick up a band they’ve bought from someone privately and we have to decline.

So for that reason, we’ve always offered full refunds to anyone who finds they cant make it. The ticket is then made available again to other members. We used to do this by keeping a waiting list but some felt that wasnt the fairest way. So this year, we’re going to re-release any returned tickets weekly so that everyone has a fair and even opportunity.

So if you didnt get your ticket in releases 1-3, then check bit.ly/mrm9 at 7pm (GMT) on a Sunday evening and any returned tickets will go back on sale on a first-come-first-served basis then.

If you’ve bought a ticket and your plans have changed and you need a refund, then just message me and we’ll sort it out for you without problem.

There will be some tickets available on the door of the individual events.

Thanks all.

Mr Rubber UK Returns for MRM9

We are pleased to announce the return of Mr Rubber UK. This event has been top secret for some time now, so naturally, most of you knew this was coming!
The contest has been organised to coincide with the popular Manchester Rubbermen Weekend #MRM9 but is the effort of a group of people from across the UK. We would like to see the event be held in different cities in the future.
For now, please think about whether you see yourself as the next Mr Rubber UK, and watch this space. You can follow us on twitter @MrRubber_UK or on the closed group MrRubberUK on here (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1846719982285757/).
Website and application form will be out soon

MRM8 Charity TOTAL

Gentlemen!
I’m so delighted to announce that you guys have absolutely smashed last year’s total of £5228 by over a grand and a half!
Wether you added donations when you bought your #MRM8 tickets, played Sister Bingo with BangBang, bought Nigel’s Calendar, bid on and amazing bit of art at #ArtsBandit, gave on the doors at Darkcell, had one of Bruce’s shots at Geartunes, gave a generous private donation or played the raffle and got polished by Oli and P.C. Stuart at Slick then THANK YOU! All those little bits together have all added up to a slightly freudian £6969!
Of course all the companies that gave prizes for the bingo and raffle need a special thank you too!
Not bad at all considering that’s just 600 of us at a smallish event!
Like I said when you were all too drunk and emotional at Slick (I was totally fine I swear) we’re fortunate to have a great community in a wonderful gay village in a part of the world where we are so lucky to be able to live mostly safely and freely as whoever we want to be while guys elsewhere are being locked up, so being able to pay that forward to help others is just a small way to show our gratitude and never take what we have for granted!
So thank you all again so much for playing your part and getting off your ass to do something proactive for your community, you all rock!
